What does otaku mean?
Firstly, I’m going to have fun with this one. Secondly, My fellow anime fans were about to go ever the magic word otaku. So sit back, grab an anime hug pillow and read. Now let’s start this post.
Otaku is a derogatory term brand. Put on us by the normies. For instance, it means to have a major obsession with anime or manga. That’s the long and short of it. Next a little history, this word originally came from the Akio Nakamori‘s 1983 essay in Manga Burikko. It may be used as a pejorative; its negativity stems from a stereotypical view of otaku and the media’s reporting on Tsutomu Miyazaki, “The Otaku Murderer”,
The subculture began in the 1980s as changing social mentalities and the nurturing of otaku traits by Japanese schools combined with the resignation of such individuals to become social outcasts. I personally believe us anime fans are to a point social outcast. Most of us have no friends besides the anime/gaming community’s a lot of us are shut-ins that only come out of the house for school/work or anime convention lol. It’s even funnier that anime makes fun of this. They know their audience.
Also, you might like this fact In modern Japanese slang, the term otaku is mostly equivalent to “geek” or “nerd“. Secondly, Reki-jo is a female otaku or nerd who is considered interested in Japanese history
When does being an anime fan become weird?
Let’s be. Honestly, most normies don’t understand us. That’s ok we are fundamentally different. Which isn’t bad all that means is when we share are anime knowledge they don’t understand it so they kindly listen. They will usually tell you they don’t really care. It gets weird when you continue to bother them with that info. Although, you are able to share other time. Most friend/ acquaintances will listen and have a small conversation about it every once and a while. Just don’t go all anime super sayian on them. That’s when it gets too weird to be an otaku. If you want to go anime super sayian on fellow otaku’s they get it and do it back.
