Is good animation important in anime?

Is good animation important? Is anime enjoyable with bad animation?

This question has a lot of different opinions. I personally believe that it depends on the viewer. First, what is not bad animations? Bad animation is not when you pause and. See a face smashed in From a punch. That Is one of the most used ways to show animation. Bad animations are also not when you stop and screenshot a blurry background that is not meant to be in motion. One of the worst forms of bad animation is when a character is punching and the scene shows no movement. This will feel hollow or empty when you watch this.

Are good animations important?

Firstly I would like to say again I believe this depends entirely on the viewer entirely. For me, it’s not the biggest thing I’m the world. Personally, I don’t much notice the bad animations. UNLESS it’s REALLY REALLY BAD! I enjoy anime for the story. Not one animation.

Is anime enjoyable with bad animation?

Like I said before I don’t focus on the animations. I focus on the story and the characters and maybe my waifu LOL. Anime is very intriguing, interesting, and important to me. I think yes anime is definitely enjoyable with crappy animations. On the other hand, you must get used to looking past the bad, crappy, or choppy animations. The animation is only one part of the anime. There are so many things that make anime great. Find them embrace them to find your inner otaku and roll out. Make sure you score in the right goal on second thought bring your waifu too lol.

I like the opinion you give on animation’s importance in anime. Personally, I feel like it’s not that important unless it is super noticeable, like… if the animation looks very choppy and not smooth. However, I can look past that because as you said, there are more things to look for in anime besides the animations. For example, my brother has discussed with me that his favorite thing in Japanese animation is the background. Most people take for granted the background, including me, which actually adds to the scenery and mood of certain scenes. Character design and personalities also play a role since viewers will pay more attention to the story and character development that they may look past the animation at times. One last thing I would like to add is that “bad animation” may actually be apart of the aesthetic. The best example I have is that I was watching a review of Kill la Kill on YouTube and I remember that the guy in the video was discussing how people were saying that Kill la Kill had bad animation. However, he explained that what looked like bad animation actually went with the feel of the anime; Kill la Kill was a funny over the top anime that didn’t take itself too seriously and at times wanted to have fun with the animation. That’s my 2 cents on my feelings towards the importance of good or bad animation in anime.
